Thank you @lanakila_occ for hosting SBBC at our Introduction to Outrigger Canoe Paddling. All 30 of us had a blast while getting some good exercise! Thank you @watermanshb for the delicious poke and Kalua Pork sliders to feed the paddlers after we generated hunger.

For those who missed this event and are interested in trying outrigger canoe paddling, Lanakila starts their rookie season in March every year after the time change occurs. We highly recommend checking it out!

WETSUIT collection tomorrow, July 6th, at @watermanshb 12-4pm, and support @surfridersouthbay to help keep our local beaches clean. Clean out your garage and closets of the wetsuits that are no longer used. @eco.byry is providing a new eco-board to raffle off with proceeds going to sustainability initiatives. Take a beautiful pint glass home with you after drinking some suds when you make a donation. Thank you @konabigwave @watermanshb @eco.byry @surfridersouthbay for the collaboration!!

Wetsuits will be donated to @jmmfoundation and @blacksurferscollective supporting their programs! If you have wetsuits to donate but can’t make it to Watermans, DM us for info on dropoff area. Thank you South Bay! #payitforward #recycle

Lastly, a lot of trash was left on the beach yesterday. Please join the effort to pick some up and toss in trash cans.

One of the individual’s SBBC is most proud of who started with us competing in Micro Grom Assist at a very young age is @kaikushner . He not only has developed into an incredible surfer, he’s also developed into an incredible young man.

South Bay’s own Kai Kushner was selected to be Captain of the USA team for the World Junior Championships in El Salvador that wrapped up in May. The USA team brought home a copper medal(4th) by the narrowest of margins for third . Kai went the furthest for the USA Team in the U18 boys division. He won 7 straight heats and unfortunately got a questionable non priority interference call to end his run. He finished 15th in the U18 division. Not the result he was hoping for, but his fire is fueled for his next goal to make Challenger Series. Head coach Ryan Simmons, WCT Veteran Courtney Conlogue and Asher Nolan did a remarkable job keeping USA in the medals. Kai: “I’m born and bred in the South Bay and the SBBC is where it all began for me. Thanks to all my friends and support back home, I have a long road ahead but I couldn’t be more proud to live in, and represent the South Bay.”

We are extremely proud of you Kai! Keep charging! We’ve got your back and stand shoulder to shoulder with you along your journey!
