Each wave submitted for consideration must be uploaded separately. Up to 5 files (photos or videos) can be uploaded per wave submitted. Please do not combine multiple waves on any one single submission upload.

The South Bay Surf Awards is a friendly competition designed to reward the best surfing captured over the entirety of the Winter season. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest wave of the winter, the subjective best ride, the grom hardest charger (18yrs old or younger), and the surfer who survives the heaviest wipeout. Competitors must submit a photograph or video of the ride by March 31st to be considered by our panel of judges.

The South Bay Surf Awards are open to all surfers, on any wave ridden in the South Bay between November 1 and March 31.

Winners of each of the five categories listed below will be awarded at the “Surfers Walk of Fame Kick-Off Party” event happening at the Hermosa Community Center in late April.

Prizes for the Biggest Wave and the Wipeout of the Year will be awarded to both the surfer and photographer

Honors the individual that shows commitment and unselfishness and gives back to our local surfing community. Prize for the individual.

RULES

• All waves must be ridden between Palos Verdes and Dockweiler State Beach.
• The waiting period is from November 1st to March 31st.
• All photos and/or videos must be submitted to the South Bay Boardriders Club website by March 31st.
• All surfers must complete the entry form and waiver to be considered for the awards.
• Entries for the Biggest Wave must be a minimum of 3 times overhead, Triple Overhead, to qualify for the Biggest Wave Award.
• This event is organized for the benefit of the community. The South Bay Boardriders Club reminds all entrants that Surfing is a subjective sport and opinions may differ. To be nominated for any of these awards should be seen as an honor, and it would be very much appreciated if nominees who are not selected do their best to demonstrate good sportsmanship and graciously accept the results.
